Animal Assisted Therapy
If you have never been a part of a session with animal assisted therapy, it is quite a fun experience (in my opinion)! Something to note is that animals can have an extremely positive effect on the work we do clinically in our sessions.
While an animal is there to help with facilitation, just like humans, they can also experience a sense of burnout. If the animal decides that it needs to withdraw, or I see that the animal appears to be in any sort of distress, please do not feel that you have done anything wrong or triggered them to leave. I do not conduct sessions just based around the animal for this reason. I usually conduct my individual and couple sessions with this addition, so that whether or not the animal is able to be present, we are still able to get therapeutic work completed within our scheduled time frame. The focus ultimately is to remain on the client, regardless of whether the animal is present or not.

I use Doxy.me as my main telemedicine platform for sessions, as it is HIPPA Compliant. A link will be provided to you prior to your session. This link will always remain the same, so you are able to save it an re-use it each time you have a scheduled session. I find this to be extremely helpful and super convenient for my clients.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are the right fit for one another, so feel free to contact me today!

Maya
Maya has been working with me in the therapy field since I was finishing my internship. She has worked with me in a variety of clinical settings and within my private practice. She is a four-year-old Shih Tzu, who has a plethora of nicknames, and looks like an Ewok (for my Star Wars fans out there). She has gone through animal therapy training and she received certification in the summer of 2023. |
